Cookware Sets Buying Advice
A cookware set is good value when you actually use every piece. This page is buying advice. We add specific product picks only after reading the maker's own page.
Start with what you need
- Material. Non-stick is easy to cook with but needs gentle care. Stainless steel is durable. Hard-anodised and cast iron are heavy and sturdy.
- Your stove. Check that the base suits gas or induction cooktops.
- Pieces you will use. Count the pieces you really need. A set with fewer, better pieces can beat a long list.
- Care. Non-stick pans usually need wooden or silicone spoons and moderate heat.
Buying guide
- Handles and lids. Check that handles stay comfortable and that lids fit well.
- Base thickness. A thick, flat base heats more evenly.
- Warranty. Read what the warranty covers, especially for non-stick coatings.

Common questions
Is a cookware set better than buying single pieces?
A set can be better value if you will use most pieces. If you only need one or two, single pieces are often a better choice.
Can I use metal spoons on non-stick pans?
It is better not to. Metal can scratch non-stick coatings, so use wooden or silicone spoons.
