Last reviewed:

The Casio Youth-Digital AE-1200WHD-1AVDF and a Timex men's watch with a black dial and stainless steel bracelet are the only two of the 73 watches here that list 100 m water resistance, and both are new to this band. This page covers every watch in the catalogue listed under ₹5,000, from any brand. Bands are cumulative, so an Under N page also shows cheaper watches: the 66 from the Under ₹3,000 page (Titan 47, Fastrack 7, Sonata 6, Timex 4, Casio 2) are included, and only seven sit strictly inside this band (Casio 1, Fastrack 2, Timex 2, Titan 2). That makes 73 watches from five brands in all. If you have already read the cheaper tier pages, those seven are the only watches you have not yet seen. Who this page is for

Take the Timex Men's T40051 Expedition Metal Field as a single case study. It lists a 37 mm metal case, a brown leather strap, quartz movement and 50 m water resistance, with China as the country of origin. The other men's-only watches new to this band that state a size run from 43 to 44.5 mm, so the Timex is the smallest newcomer that states a case size.

Men and women

Two men's-only newcomers share a 43 mm case: the Casio Youth-Digital AE-1200WHD-1AVDF and the Titan Workwear NT1733KL03. The Casio is a digital on a stainless steel strap with an alarm and LED light listed; the Titan is an analog on brown leather with a day-date feature. Little else matches. Six of the seven watches new to this band are men's-only. The seventh, the Titan Raga Delight NT2608QM02, is the only women's-only newcomer, on a metal strap with no case size stated.

Brands in this price range

Titan: 49 watches; India is stated as the origin on 15 and nothing is stated on the other 34. Fastrack: 9 watches, including the only chronograph listed (the Stunners X). Sonata: 6 watches, none new to this band, all at 30 m. Timex: 6 watches, four of them on stainless steel straps. Casio: 3 watches, all digital and all with China as the origin.

Buying advice

Treat the seven newcomers as a short list you can check one by one. All seven state a quartz movement and a water-resistance figure, but the Fastrack All Nighters NT3165NL01 and the Titan Raga Delight NT2608QM02 state no case size, and the Fastrack Fastfit 3224NL01 names no strap material. Confirm those on the Amazon page before ordering, and remember that a water-resistance figure on a listing is not a promise that the watch suits swimming. For the older 66 watches, our how to choose a watch guide explains what each spec line means.

Common questions

Has every brand added watches to this price band?

No. Four of the five brands did: Casio, Fastrack, Timex and Titan have 1, 2, 2 and 2 watches strictly in this band. Sonata has six watches on the page, but all six also appear on the Under ₹1,000 page, so none are new here.

Where do unisex-listed watches appear on the site?

Six watches on this page are listed as unisex: two Casio, three Fastrack and one Sonata. A unisex listing appears under both Men and Women, so those six are counted in both lists. None of the seven watches new to this band is unisex-listed.

Are alarms and stopwatches listed only on Casio watches?

No. Three watches list an alarm: two Casios (LW-204-1BDF and AE-1200WHD-1AVDF) and the Sonata SF Hexa. A stopwatch is listed on the LW-204-1BDF and the SF Hexa, while the AE-1200WHD-1AVDF names none. The only chronograph is the Fastrack Stunners X.

How should I treat a listing with no water-resistance figure?

Ten of the 73 watches give no figure: eight Titans, one Timex and one Casio (the Vintage A-158WA-1Q). Read that as not stated, not as zero or any particular figure, and check the Amazon page before assuming anything. All seven watches new to this band do state a figure.
